What drives the price
Seven things that move a website price.
- 01
Who builds it
The biggest swing. A freelancer charges $500 to $10,000 or more to design a site. An agency charges $6,500 to $15,000 for a small business site (WebFX).
- 02
How many pages
Each service and each city usually gets its own page. Agencies price larger sites in a higher band: $15,000 to $50,000 for a medium-sized business (WebFX).
- 03
Who writes the words
A simple website page costs $300 to $1,000 to have written (NEWMEDIA). Ten pages of copy can cost more than a freelancer charges for the design.
- 04
Booking or a quote form
A quote form and a tap-to-call button are part of any build, and we found no public price for them alone. A custom booking system that stores appointments is database work: $2,000 to $10,000 at the basic level (WebFX).
- 05
A CMS you can edit
Basic CMS integration runs $3,000 to $10,000 (WebFX). WebFX notes that even a free CMS carries a setup fee from the freelancer or agency who adds it.
- 06
Selling online
Ecommerce for a smaller site costs $3,000 to $10,000 (WebFX). Most local service businesses sell by phone and quote instead, and skip this line.
- 07
Moving an old site, or rushing
Migration starts at $300. Small sites stay under $800, medium sites run $800 to $2,500 (cmsMinds). Rush fees quoted by freelancers range from 15% to 50% (Millo).

Method
How the calculator gets its numbers.
The formulaEstimate = design and build + (pages × copy rate per page) + each extra you pick, then × 1.15 to 1.5 if you need it rushed. Each part is a low-high range from a public source.
Design and build uses two published ranges: $500 to $10,000 for a freelancer from the WebFX cost guide, and $6,500 to $15,000 for a small business agency site from the WebFX calculator page. Above 10 pages we switch the agency figure to its medium band, $15,000 to $50,000. The split at 10 pages is ours; it matches the first page band in WebFX's own calculator.
Copy is $300 to $1,000 per page, the NEWMEDIA range for a simple website page. A CMS and a custom booking system use the WebFX basic integration ranges. Migration uses the cmsMinds ranges for small and medium sites, split at the same 10 pages. Rush uses the 15% and 50% fees freelancers quote in the Millo article.
The sources do not always agree. WebFX alone lists a small business website at $100 to $5,000 in one place and agency small business design at $6,500 to $15,000 in another. We show the range that matches who builds the site, and we list every source so you can check it.
A quote form and tap-to-call add nothing, because we found no public price for them as a separate item. They are part of every site we build.
