We asked ChatGPT the question a managing partner would ask: "best SEO company for a small personal injury firm, and what do they charge." It named five agencies and quoted a price only for the ones that publish one. That is the trouble with shopping for the best law firm SEO companies. Most hide the price until a sales call, and most "best of" lists are written by an agency that puts itself first.
So we did the boring part. On 26 October 2026 we read the pricing and services pages of 25 companies that sell SEO to law firms and wrote down exactly what each one publishes. No ranking, no winner. We're in the table too, marked as us.

Quick answer: The best law firm SEO company for a small firm is one that publishes its price and term, changes your site instead of only reporting on it, and measures consultations, not just rankings. Of the 25 companies we checked, 10 publish a monthly price, from $500 to $4,000, median $2,250. Get the minimum term in writing.

How did we check them?
We read each company's own pricing or services page on 26 October 2026 and recorded only what that page says. We didn't call anyone, request a quote or sign up for a trial. Third-party estimates of "what law firm SEO costs" were kept out of the count.
We included legal-only agencies and the larger general agencies that run law firm pages, because both turn up when a partner searches. One general agency we checked sells only to contractors, so it is left out of the table. Six companies blocked our check on the day; we name them and say nothing else about them.
We're not neutral, and we don't pretend to be. RankMeHi is in the table, marked as us, and we have no law firm client results to show yet. We say that again in the section about us rather than burying it.
The best law firm SEO companies and what they publish
10 of the 25 publish a monthly starting price on their own site. 8 publish none, and 6 blocked our check.

Publish no price on their own site: Rankings.io (it states no long-term contract), LawRank, Searchbloom, Consultwebs, iLawyerMarketing, Esquire Digital, WEBRIS and Lawyer.com. We could not load the pages of Scorpion, Justia, FindLaw, Nifty Marketing, Mockingbird and Coalition Technologies.

One caution on comparing rows. Juris Digital and Attorney Pro Marketing price full marketing packages, and Thrive's $500 is a general local SEO plan, so not every number is SEO-only for a law firm.

What does law firm SEO cost, going by published prices?
In our price check, the 10 that publish a price start from $500 to $4,000 a month, with a median of $2,250. Take out Thrive's general local plan and the lowest is $1,500.
In the same check, the four law-only companies that publish a price, Forward Lawyer Marketing, Grow Law Firm, Juris Digital and Attorney Pro Marketing, start in a tight band: $1,995 to $2,500 a month. The general agencies spread wider, from $1,500 at Loopex to $4,000 at Optimum7.
Our opinion, for a firm of one to a few offices: a starting plan between $1,500 and $2,500 is where most published offers sit, so a quote far above that should come with a reason you can see, such as more practice areas, more cities or website work included. A quote far below it should tell you exactly who does the work.
| What you compare | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Starting price | Tells you the floor; ask what the starting plan leaves out |
| Minimum term | Two of the 10 ask for or recommend 12 months; the rest are month to month or silent |
| What's included | Packages that bundle ads or a website aren't comparable with SEO-only plans |
| Who owns the site | If the agency owns it, leaving costs you the site |
Legal-only agencies or general SEO agencies?
Neither is automatically better; the questions further down sort them faster than the label does. The best law firm SEO companies for your firm can come from either group, depending on who will review the copy and how many practice areas you need covered.
| Legal-only agency | General SEO agency | |
|---|---|---|
| Strengths | Works only on law firm sites; more likely to know bar advertising rules without being told | Often broader technical experience; in our check, more of them publish a price |
| Weak spots | Only 4 of the legal-only companies we checked publish a price | May not know your state bar's rules; copy may need more review |
| Fits | Firms that want a vendor who has only worked on law firms | Firms with their own compliance review, comfortable briefing a vendor |
What should a law firm SEO company fix first?
On most firm sites, speed on a phone and AI crawler access, before any keyword work. That is what our study of 53 Orange County law firm websites shows.
We took every law office listed in OpenStreetMap for Orange County, California, crawled their sites on 25 September 2026 and ran each live one through Google's PageSpeed Insights on mobile. 47 of the 53 were live.
| What we measured | Law firms (47 live) | All local businesses |
|---|---|---|
| LegalService or LocalBusiness schema | 72.3% | 41.5% |
| Main content takes over 4 s to show on a phone | 68.1% (median 6.8 s) | 79.1% |
| Score "good" on mobile PageSpeed | 3 of 47 | 6.9% |
| Refuse AI crawlers at the firewall | 23.4% | 13.9% |
| No analytics at all | 17% | 38.9% |

Law firms are ahead on the classic checklist: schema is far more common than in other local businesses. The gaps are speed and AI access. One in four firm sites refuses AI crawlers such as GPTBot at the firewall, so an assistant can't read the page, let alone quote it. We cover that in AI SEO for law firms, and the full study is in SEO for law firms: what 53 firm sites show.
Law firm sites already do the old SEO checklist better than any other local business we tested. They lose on phone speed and on letting AI assistants in.
If your site already scores "good" on mobile and runs analytics, you're ahead of most of the 47, and your SEO company's first job is pages and links, not technical cleanup.

10 questions to ask a law firm SEO company before you sign
Ask them in this order; each one rules out a different kind of bad fit.
- Who does the work? Get names, not "our team."
- Do you change the site, or only recommend changes? A report you have to implement yourself still costs the monthly fee.
- Who owns the site, the content and the Business Profile if we leave? Get it in writing before you sign.
- What is the minimum term, and how do we exit? Most companies in our check don't publish it.
- What does the report count? Consultations by practice area, or only rankings?
- How do you build links? Ask for the process. Paid link packages are a no.
- Will your copy follow our state bar's rules on results and testimonials? In California, that's the State Bar's attorney advertising guidance.
- Do you work with a competing firm in our city? A yes isn't fatal, but you should know.
- What did you do for a firm like ours, with numbers we can check? Ask for a reference you can call.
- What happens in month one? A vague answer here predicts months two to twelve.

What does a good month one look like?
By the end of the first month you should have a written list of what's broken, the first fixes live, and tracking that counts consultations. If all you have is a kickoff call and a login, the clock is running on your money, not theirs.
A good first month usually covers four things. The SEO company reads your Search Console and analytics, opens your site on a phone, and searches for each of your practice areas in your city the way a client would. It checks whether AI crawlers can reach the site. It fixes the problems that block everything else, such as a slow homepage, missing call tracking or a contact form that emails a departed associate. And it agrees with you which practice area pages come next, in what order and why.
| Week | What you should see |
|---|---|
| 1 | Access to your site, Search Console, analytics and Business Profile; a short audit in plain English |
| 2 | A ranked fix list with the reason for each item and who does it |
| 3 | The first fixes live: speed, tracking, contact paths, crawler access |
| 4 | A one-page report with consultations by practice area, and the plan for month two |
That's the standard we'd hold any of the best law firm SEO companies to, including us. If a vendor can't describe its first month this plainly, ask why before you sign.
Which red flags rule a company out?
A guaranteed page-one ranking is the clearest one, because nobody controls Google's results. The others:
- A long contract with no stated exit
- The agency, not the firm, owns the website or domain
- Reports with rankings and traffic but no consultations
- Fake reviews, or a virtual office set up to look like a second location
A 12-month minimum stated openly is not a red flag by itself. Hiding the term until the contract is.
Where does RankMeHi fit?
We're a small team in Costa Mesa, California, working with firms across the US, and we publish our prices.
Ongoing SEO starts at $690 a month, month to month. A one-off audit and fix starts at $490. If you'd rather not pay a retainer at all, our pay-per-lead option builds the firm's own site for a $490 setup and $99 a month, then bills a flat price per approved enquiry, never per signed case. The work is the same as in our web design and web development projects: fast pages, content in the HTML, a page per practice area, tracked calls and forms.
Here's the part we won't bury: we have no law firm client results to show yet. So start with the free audit, and judge us on what it finds on your own site. The details of how we work with firms are on our law firm SEO page, and the map-pack side is covered by our local SEO services. If you'd rather buy leads than SEO, our guide to personal injury leads compares the published per-lead prices.

FAQ
How much do law firm SEO companies charge?
Law firm SEO companies that publish a price start at $500 to $4,000 a month, median $2,250, in our check of 25 companies on 26 October 2026. The four law-only companies with a published price start at $1,995 to $2,500. The rest ask for a call before they name a number.
Is a legal-only SEO agency better than a general one?
A legal-only agency is not automatically better. It may know bar advertising rules sooner, but in our check only 4 legal-only companies published a price. General agencies vary widely in price and legal experience. Ask both the same ten questions and compare the answers in writing.
How long is a typical law firm SEO contract?
Contract terms vary. In our check Juris Digital asks for a 12-month campaign and Comrade recommends a 12-month minimum, while Attorney Pro Marketing, Grow Law Firm, Loopex and Thrive state month-to-month or cancel-anytime terms. Most of the 25 don't publish a term at all, so ask.
How long does law firm SEO take to work?
Fixes to pages Google already shows can move within weeks; new practice area pages usually take two to four months to settle, and competitive personal injury markets take longer. None of the 25 companies publish a guaranteed timeline, and you should distrust anyone who promises one.
What should a law firm SEO report include?
A law firm SEO report should show consultations by practice area and by page: calls over a minute, forms and booked consultations, next to Search Console data. Rankings belong in it, but not on their own. In our study, 17% of firm sites ran no analytics, so check tracking first.
