Contractor SEO agency

SEO for contractors that turns local searches into booked jobs.

Contractor SEO helps plumbers, HVAC companies, roofers, electricians, glass and window installers, and builders get found. It includes your Business Profile, one page per job type, reviews from the truck, a site that loads fast on a phone, and tracking that counts calls and quote requests. One team builds the site and ranks it.

The audit covers your Business Profile, the job-type pages that should rank, speed on a phone, and whether calls and forms are counted.

Contractor SEO, explained

What SEO for contractors actually does.

In one paragraphContractor SEO is the work of showing up when a homeowner nearby searches for the job you do: in the map pack, in the regular results for “job plus city”, and in AI answers. It depends on a Business Profile set to your trade, steady reviews, one page per job type, a fast mobile site, and tracking that shows what brings calls.

Contractors get searched by job, not by company name. Nobody types “best plumbing company”; they type “water heater leaking”, “AC not cooling” or “roof repair near me”, usually on a phone and often in a hurry. Each one is a separate search, and the business with a clear page for that exact job gets the call.

The map pack takes most of those calls. It ranks by how well your profile matches the search, how close you are, and how much trust your reviews and listings carry. You cannot move your shop, but you can fix the other two, and most contractors leave both half done.

Below the map, Google and AI assistants rank one specific, readable page per job and per area. A homeowner who asks ChatGPT for an electrician who installs EV chargers gets the contractor whose site says so, in plain text, with a price range.

And your site has to work when the click arrives. In our check of 43 live contractor websites, three in four took more than 4 seconds to show their content on a phone, and a third had no quote form. SEO that sends visitors to that site pays for calls that never happen.

Original research · 51 contractors

We checked 51 contractor websites. Most lose the call before SEO matters.

Plumbers, HVAC, window and door, flooring, roofers and other trades in Orange County, CA, taken from our study of 662 local business websites. Every live site crawled and run through PageSpeed Insights on mobile in September 2026.

  • 35%run no analytics at all, no Google Analytics and no Tag ManagerThey pay for marketing without knowing which page or listing brings the jobs.
  • 74%take more than 4 seconds to show their main content on a phoneMedian 7.2 s. Only 12% score in the "good" band on mobile.
  • 14%have no tap-to-call link on the homepageFor a trade that lives on the phone, that is the most expensive missing line of code.
  • 8%of the contractor websites in the listings are dead: the domain no longer resolvesMeasured across all 51. The map listing still sends customers to a site that is gone.
  • 61%are lead-ready: HTTPS, a mobile layout, tap-to-call and a form or bookingSlightly better than the 59% of all local businesses, and still four in ten miss a basic.

What you get

Contractor SEO services from one team.

Six deliverables. Every engagement starts with the ones the audit shows are missing.
  1. 01

Business Profile set up per trade

The right primary category ("Plumber", "HVAC contractor", "Roofing contractor"), every job type listed as a service, the service area drawn to where you actually drive, and photos of real jobs. The profile decides the map pack.

  2. 02

    One page per job type

Water heater replacement, AC repair, roof leak repair, panel upgrade. Each gets its own page with the price range, how long it takes, photos and a quote button, because each is a separate search with a separate buyer.

  3. 03

Service-area pages that are not templates

Build pages only for the cities you work in and can say something real about: jobs done there, permit rules, drive times. A page copied 40 times with the city swapped does not rank and reads as spam.

  4. 04

    A review routine for crews

Send a short link from the truck when the job is done, and reply to every review within a day. Steady reviews beat a burst, and the next homeowner reads your replies.

  5. 05

Technical SEO and a fast mobile site

Indexing, schema for your business, services and areas, internal links, and a site that shows its content in under 2.5 seconds on a phone. Three in four contractor sites we tested take longer than 4.

  6. 06

    Call and quote tracking

Calls from the profile and the site counted separately, quote forms recorded as conversions, spam filtered. The report says how many jobs asked for an estimate, not only where you rank.

Does Google know which trade you are and where you go?

The map

For "plumber near me" and "AC repair" the map pack takes most of the calls. It ranks by relevance, distance and trust.

  • Primary category is your most valuable tradeA plumber who also does water heaters picks "Plumber", then adds the rest as services.
  • Service area set, address hidden if you work from homeVirtual offices and fake storefronts get suspended.
  • Reviews arriving every month, each one answeredRecency and replies both count, and homeowners read them before calling.
  • Same name, phone and hours on every listingIn our NAP test of 404 local businesses only 60% matched their map listing.

02

Does every job type have a page a homeowner can act on?

The site

Below the map, Google and AI assistants rank one clear page per job and per area. Most contractor sites have one "Services" page with a bullet list.

  • A page per job type, with the job in the title and H1"Tankless water heater installation" and "drain cleaning" are different buyers.
  • Price ranges and timelines on the pageThe first question every homeowner has. Answering it filters out tyre-kickers.
  • Tap-to-call and a short quote form on every page14% of contractor sites we checked had no tap-to-call link; 35% had no form.
  • Main content visible in under 2.5 s on a phoneThe median contractor site took 7.2 s. Most searches for a trade happen on a phone.

03

Do you know which marketing books the jobs?

The numbers

A third of the contractor sites we checked ran no analytics at all. Without it, every marketing decision is a guess.

  • Calls counted by source: map, site, adsSo you can drop what does not pay.
  • Quote forms recorded as conversions, spam removedBot submissions make a weak page look busy.
  • Search Console read monthly by query and pageIt shows the job types you almost rank for, which is where the next page comes from.
  • A baseline before anything changesWithout a before, there is no honest after.

Choosing a contractor SEO agency

Do it yourself, hire a contractor marketing agency, or hire the team that also builds the site?

How we work

Audit, priorities, build, measure.

Four steps, each ending in something you can see. You approve each change before it goes live.
  1. 01

    Free contractor SEO audit

    Day 1 to 3

We open your Business Profile and your site on a phone, read Search Console, and search for your job types in the cities you serve the way a homeowner would.

You getA short list of what holds you back, with the evidence for each: profile, pages, speed or tracking.

  2. 02

    Priorities and a fixed quote

    Day 4 to 5

We rank the list by likely effect on calls. A roofer with no reviews needs a different first month than a plumber with a slow site.

You getA plan in plain English and a fixed price for the first round. Nothing starts until you say go.

  3. 03

    Build and fix

    Week 1 to 4

Bita writes the job-type and area pages, Mohammad fixes the technical issues and speed, Andrew redesigns what needs it. When the site itself is the problem, we rebuild it.

You getPages and fixes live on your site, not a list of requests waiting for another vendor.

  4. 04

    Measure

    Monthly

Calls, quote forms and Search Console positions compared with the baseline, and the next page chosen from what the data shows.

You getA one-page report: what changed, what it did to enquiries, what we do next month.

Pricing

Contractor SEO pricing without the long contract.

Start with one round of fixes on the profile and pages that matter most. Keep going monthly if the numbers say so. Cancel any time. Would rather pay per job lead? The pay-per-lead option builds the site at a lower setup fee and bills per approved lead, one contractor per trade per city.
